VIDEO| Speakin’ Japanese: You can’t be serious
Sometimes we run into people who say or do outrageous things. You may overhear this phrase when others are arguing or teasing each other amongst friends.
“Jodan ja naiyo,” which means “Don’t be silly” or “You can’t be serious.”
Repeat after me.
“Jodan ja naiyo!”
(“Jodan” – joke or kidding, “Jodan ja naiyo” – Don’t be silly or You can’t be serious)
Repeat after me: “Jodan ja naiyo”
Sometimes we should make a John McEnroe out of us.
