USS Blue Ridge to visit Otaru

YOKOSUKA, Japan— USS Blue Ridge (LCC 19), forward deployed to Yokosuka, Japan, as a flag ship of the U.S. Seventh Fleet, will make a brief goodwill port visit to Otaru, Hokkaido, Japan on February 8, 2019.

Conducting port calls provides the crew with experience and improves mission readiness. Blue Ridge, commanded by Capt. Eric J. Anduze, Blue Ridge is a Blue Ridge-class Command and Control ship; it is approximately 190 meters in length, displacing approximately 18,874 tons, and has a crew size of approximately 1,000.

While in Otaru, the crew is looking forward to meeting the citizens, sightseeing, shopping, enjoying the local cuisine and cultural attractions, and learning more about the scenic and historic area of Hokkaido, Japan.
