Touch of pink reaches Misawa Air Base during peak cherry blossom season
As we reach the start of the busy Golden Week holidays, Misawa Air Base and Aomori Prefecture have just reached peak cherry blossom season.
Residents are enjoying the Sakura Matsuri, or cherry blossom festivals, which had been temporarily paused for the last two years due to the pandemic. This year, some of the most popular festivals like the ones at Hirosaki Castle, Hachinohe Park, and Towada Central Street, are welcoming visitors through May 5.
Yoshihito Morita of Misawa Commissary sent in some photos of interesting cherry blossom trees at Misawa Air Base. These bright-pink reddish blossoms seem a hybrid of the surrounding soft-pink blooms, Morita said.
Temperatures are expected to keep rising, so, take a little time to enjoy the gorgeous views, Misawa!
