Saluting Women of Military Excellence During Women’s History Month
Civility Leaders from around the world are celebrating Women of Military Excellence. A special tribute honoring Women Veterans was released in Productive Business Magazine’s March issue. https://bit.ly/PBMMarch
During Women’s History Month, Professor Vernet A. Joseph, Global Productive Business Leader and retired Army Chief Warrant Officer four (CW4) wanted to establish a special tribute to honor Women Veterans. He collaborated with Sir Clyde Rivers, Global World Civility Leader to bring recognition to several women of military excellence as they exemplify Civility For All.
A special posthumous salute to Ms. Maybelle Rutland Tanner Campbell, who was an honorable veteran whose service during World War II with the 6888th Postal Battalion helped shatter race and gender barriers in the United States Armed Forces. She was born in Forsyth, Georgia, and served her country with valor and distinction from February 1945 to December 1946 as a Private First Class (PFC) in the 6888th Central Postal Directory Battalion of the Women’s Auxiliary Corps (WAC) of the United States Army, which was notably the only unit of African American women to serve overseas during World War II.
As part of the 6888th Central Postal Directory Battalion, often referred to as the (Six Triple Eight), PFC Campbell and her fellow service members remarkably cleared a years-long backlog of letters and packages intended for military units in the European Theatre of Operations (ETO) in only a matter of months, boosting troop morale by connecting soldiers with their loved ones back home.
The accomplishments of the Six Triple Eight have received greater recognition in recent years; along with parades and celebrations, a monument was erected in 2018 in the Buffalo Soldier Commemorative Area at Fort Leavenworth, Kansas, to commemorate the Six Triple Eight and the historic and invaluable contributions that Maybelle Rutland Tanner Campbell and others made to the Allied victory in World War II.
Maybelle Rutland Tanner Campbell earned her wings on February 9, 2021. She will be fondly remembered and dearly missed by her children, Natalie and Melody, their families, and by numerous other family members, friends and fellow veterans around the world. Maybelle Rutland Tanner Campbell will be remembered as a global agent of change for her service and dedication to our great nation.
The honorary tributes span from Ms. Maybelle Rutland Tanner Campbell, Charity Adams, Dr. Betty Speaks, Seda Goff, Celeste Purdie, Monika Lamb, Johnnie Lloyd, Tamika Rowe, Dr. Patrice Berry, DeAndria L. Hardy, Viviana M. DeCohen Rita A Cossio, Dr. Niyati Dhokar, and Tasha TC Cooper. We stand with and honor our Women Veterans in all your endeavors to bring peace and civility around the world.
Dr. Clyde Rivers Founder of I Change Nations states, “These kinds of tributes remind us that your actions speak louder than your words and the world is a better place because of women like you... Civility for All!”
