SAGAMIHARA CITY, Japan -- Along the bank of the Sagami River not far from Camp Zama, local Japanese residents came out May 4 to hear the U.S. Army Japan Band's "Pacific Brass" ensemble build up the excitement before the first big kite was pulled skyward. The annual kite festival has always included the USARJ Band and the audience enjoys the variety of music. On the first day of the two-day festival, city officials estimated the crowd to be about 60,000.
