YOKOSUKA, Japan (NNS) -- Naval Facilities Engineering Command Far East awarded a $4.1 million contract to repair the Security Facility B-320 at Commander, Fleet Activities (FLEACT) Sasebo, Japan Sept. 25.

"This construction project will provide a world-class facility for our Navy Security Force (NSF) to operate from," said public works officer Cmdr. Dean Allen, Public Works Department Sasebo. "The end product will enhance NSF operations by providing a more beneficial floor-plan that will also include a functioning alternate emergency operations center. Our distinguished security and emergency management professionals will soon occupy a facility that is worthy of the valued services that they provide to our community."

The renovation will include Anti-terrorism/Force Protection upgrades, repairs to degraded mechanical and plumbing systems, and reconfiguring unused space to serve as the alternate Emergency Operations Center.

The contract was awarded to American Engineering Corporation, of Okinawa, Japan, for $4,196,395. Work is scheduled for completion in March 2017.
