Misawa gets first snowfall of the season
While the rest of mainland Japan is currently enjoying the gorgeous autumn leaves, Misawa Air Base and Aomori Prefecture received the first layer of snow this season overnight on Dec.1.
Yoshihito Morita of the Misawa Commissary, said that this snowfall was four days later than last year.
Despite the short delay, residents in the area can expect a snowy season, especially since Aomori City in the prefecture is known for being the world’s snowiest city in the world, according to report by Insider. That city, which is about a two-hour drive from Misawa AB averages about 26 feet of snow per year, the report said.
So, bundle up and get ready for a snowy winter season through the end of April!
