Lockdown lifted after reports of ‘shots heard’ at home of US Forces Japan

YOKOTA AIR BASE, Japan – Officials say all is clear after “reports of shots heard” spurred a lockdown Tuesday morning at the home of U.S. Forces Japan in western Tokyo.

“All clear. All clear. The emergency has ended,” said a message broadcast by Yokota’s Giant Voice system at 12:23 p.m.

A statement issued at noon by the 374th Airlift Wing, titled “Shots Heard at Yokota Air Base," said the unverified incident was under investigation and that no deaths or injuries had been reported.
