YOKOTA AIR BASE, Japan — More than 1,000 anime, science-fiction and fantasy enthusiasts flooded the Taiyo Community Center over the weekend for the first Yokota-Con on this Air Force base in western Tokyo.

Yokota-Con — a takeoff on the annual comic book convention Comic-Con International — ran all Saturday afternoon and provided patrons with a number of booths and activities, from live music to gaming.
