As a UH-1N special mission aviator, Smeaton conducts various operations including rescue hoist, air ambulance, search and rescue, night operations, and distinguished visitor transportation across the Kanto region. Smeaton took ownership of the Air Ambulance Fly Away Kit program, which has ensured air crews are always prepared for priority patient movements in the Kanto region at a moments notice. His work ethic and unit involvement regularly sets Smeaton apart from his peers. Smeaton proved himself indispensable as the NCOIC of training by meticulously preparing for an SAV inspection and OIC changeover, ensuring a near perfect inspection rating.
