Yokota’s Bailey signs to play hoops, volleyball for Anderson (S.C)
Britney Bailey, star of volleyball, basketball and track and field for the Panthers of Yokota and Guam high schools the past three-plus years, will trade blue and gold for black and gold next fall as she takes her game to a higher level.
The senior middle blocker, center and hurdler has signed a National Letter of Intent and has been awarded a full scholarship to play volleyball and basketball for Anderson University, an NCAA Division II school in South Carolina.
Bailey signed her NLI during a ceremony at Yokota High School on Nov. 16. The signing ended a lengthy process of a year during which Bailey visited nine universities in six states, including the Air Force Academy and Florida State University.
Bailey settled on Anderson, which afforded her the opportunity to play both sports and also had an engineering program, something Bailey wishes to pursue, said her mother, Dr. Helen Bailey, DODEA-Japan’s district community superintendent.
