Alpha Company raids from the sea aboard USS Ashland

31st Marine Expeditionary Unit

Petty Officer 3rd Class Tonye Peters, a hospital corpsman with Alpha Company, Battalion Landing Team, 1st Battalion, 4th Marines, loads a magazine with blank ammunition aboard the dock landing ship USS Ashland (LSD 48), Philippine Sea, Feb. 2, 2019. Peters, a native of Auburn, Alabama, graduated from Auburn High School in May of 2015 enlisting from RS Auburn in July of the same year. Alpha Company is the small-boat raid company with BLT 1/4, the Ground Combat Element for the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit. The 31st MEU, the Marine Corps’ only continuously forward-deployed MEU partnering with the Wasp Amphibious Ready Group, provides a flexible and lethal force ready to perform a wide range of military operations as the premier crisis response force in the Indo-Pacific region.
