Wild Weasel of the Week: Airman 1st Class Petri Brand
The 35th Aerospace Medicine Squadron chose Airman 1st Class Petri Brand, bioenvironmental engineering journeyman, as their Wild Weasel of the Week.
Supervisor's comments on why you were selected: "Airman 1st Class Petri Brand has been an impact player since he stepped off the plane and arrived at Misawa Air Base, Japan. He has taken charge of programs that are normally managed by Non Commissioned Officer's and has flourished in his professional development as a United States Airman. He has spent a majority of his off-duty hours staying involved with the youth here at Misawa AB mentoring them by coaching soccer and being a leader in Club Beyond. A1C Brand is truly on his way to a successful Air Force career." said Tech. Sgt. Dominique Jamieson, Bioenvironmental Engineering Craftsman.
What is your daily mission? My daily mission is to ensure the occupational and environmental health of all Air Force personnel to include active-duty and civilian.
What do you enjoy about your job? I enjoy having the opportunity to be able to visit most shops on base, and to see how their workplace functions. Also, I get to see how their mission adds to what the Air Force needs in order to fly, fight, and win.
Why did you choose to serve in the Air Force? The Air Force's core values of integrity first, service before self, and excellence in all we do, are what I strive to live by. The Air Force always strives for greatness and I wished to be a part of that.
What is your favorite thing about living in Japan? Having the opportunity to travel all over Japan and experience the culture and food are memories I will treasure for a lifetime.
Who has been your best mentor and what have they taught you? Tech. Sgt. Domonique Jamieson has been my best mentor here in Misawa. The reason being is that when he asks something of me he is not afraid to dive in head first and help me with it. Every day I am able to learn new things about Bioenvironmental Engineering due to his diligence and helpful insight on my job.
How long have you been stationed at Misawa? I have been stationed here in Misawa for a year, and I extended another year due to its location.
How long have you been in the Air Force? I have been in the Air Force for a year and a half.
What goals do you want to meet while at Misawa? I would like to have the honor of being selected for Senior Airman Below the Zone, as well as finish my CCAF before departing Misawa.
What goals do you want to meet during your Air Force career? I would like to serve a couple more years in the enlisted side, but eventually the ultimate goal would be to commission to become an officer in the United States Air Force.
