The sturgeon is known worldwide for its caviar, the delicacy derived from its eggs, but its dense, somewhat translucent meat can also make for an excellent meal. Since fishermen in Miyazaki catch more sturgeon than any other part of Japan, it makes sense that Curry Club Ruu (3-9-6 Uchi-Kanda, Chiyoda-ku; www.curryclub-ruu.jp), which specializes in dishes from the prefecture, is offering chozame curry (¥980) made with the Miyazaki-sourced  fish. Prepared in the prefecture’s nanban style, it’s coated in a sweet breading, fried and topped with a dollop of tartar sauce. The dish is only available through April 23, but the joint serves beef, chicken and other curries in the Miyazaki style year round.
