Cool jazz available 'til sunrise
Located in the basement of a building on the northeast corner of Roppongi Crossing, Jazz Cafe London is small jazz club that offers a lot for people not interested in paying a $50-$100 cover charge found at most Tokyo Jazz clubs. There is no cover here, which is good news if you just want to come in for a short break from the excitement of Roppongi.
Soft jazz plays in the background when there is no live music. Smoking is OK, and encouraged with a cigar bar offering stogies for those who don't bring their own. As the evening grows late, the smoke gets pretty thick, so plan accordingly.
The food menu is pretty impressive for a small bar, with lots of pizzas and wraps. However, they also serve burgers and steaks, as well as lots of appetizers. The prices for drinks and food are very, very reasonable. The wait staff speaks very good English. The mojitos, according to one of my companions, are very good. My group shared several pizzas and appetizers--all were fresh and tasty (we ate before it got very smokey).
