In the ritzy Tokyo Midtown shopping center there are many high-end restaurants. However, tucked away in the corner of the basement (B1) level is a real, live honest-to-goodness American Diner.

Baker Bounce has a large bi-lingual menu, with all types of burgers and sandwiches we get back in the states. Most meals come complete with two side dishes and a drink.

Now, the portions are Japanese-sized, not American-sized. This means the side of "french fries" is just four potatoe wedges. The side order of "slaw" (cole slaw) can easily be consumed in one bite.

The burgers are definitely a step up from Burger King/McDonalds. Twice as thick, but still cooked to medium (no chance to ask for rare or medium-rare). The toppings are authentic and really good. I got pepper jack cheese on my burger -it was real cheese and not "processed cheese food."

The staff is friendly and bi-lingual. There are only about 10 tables in the restaurant, but right outside in the lobby area are plenty of tables set up for all the restaurants in this area, just like in Exchange food courts.

Best of all, the prices are really cheap. You can't beat 1,000 yen for a complete meal. And many of the options are even cheaper - complete cheeseburger meals cost 950 yen.

Tokyo Midtown is located one block south of the main action in Roppongi, so whether you have the munchies (they are open until 10:30pm) or are in need of a place for family dining with fussy kids, this is a highly recommended diner.
