Name: Juliet Bucayu-Domingo
Position: USO Japan Area Director
Time with USO: 10.5 years

Why did you join the USO?
Having been a military spouse, I understand the challenges faced by our service members and their families. The USO is a way for me to serve our country by supporting our service members.

What makes the USO so special?
We have a direct impact on the lives of our service members and families. It’s the welcoming smile and the home-like environment you feel when you walk into our USO centers. It’s the programs and services which allow our service members to stay connected with their loved ones.

What’s the USO’s target audience?
Our US military and families as well as our host nation services. In Japan, the US-Japan alliance is critical. The USO holds event such as an annual golf tournament and gala which provides opportunities for our US and Japanese service members to interact and strengthen the relationship.

What are some of goals you have as the USO director in Japan?
The upcoming year will be focused on ensuring we are at key locations and brining a USO center to MCAS Iwakuni and Yokota Air Base. Additionally, we will expand our mission of connecting our services members with family, home, and country through our transition programs; helping them reconnect back to their local communities.

Where to do you see the USO in another 25 years?
As the military focuses on places versus bases, the USO will be able to support our expeditionary units. Through expeditionary programs and services, whenever and wherever our military goes, the USO will be there.
