Star Wars adventure at Tokyo Disneyland!
CHIBA, Japan - It’s time for all you Star Wars fans to head to Tokyo Disneyland!
Once there, head over to the “Star Tours: The Adventures Continue” exhibit for a 4-minute, 30-second space odyssey that is based off the Star Wars series latest hit “Star Wars: The Force Awakens,” released worldwide in December. The exhibit opened Feb. 2.
I was one of the first to check out the new ride during a special Feb. 1 prescreening. I will admit that I am not a big Star Wars follower, but decided it best to watch The Force Awakens before heading to the park in order to better appreciate and evaluate the ride. I’m glad I did.
As I entered the exhibit, I was ushered into one of six cabins of a spaceship (a theater). It was very comfortable for the 40 passengers, each of us taking a seat and strapping on a seatbelt. As we donned our 3D glasses, we were given flight instructions and precautions (provided in both English and Japanese). We also discovered that Star Wars classic character C-3PO and BB-8, a new character introduced in The Force Awakens, are along for the ride.
What a ride it was! Even though you are technically going nowhere, the 3D journey thriller has you traveling at high speeds and fighting the forces of gravity and the galaxy. It’s like you are part of the movie.
During the ride, we lost our way in Jakku, a harsh desert world. I promise you’ll enjoy exploring this new land. But you’ll need to hang on! Even though we didn’t move anywhere, the “spaceship” took my mind and stomach on quite a ride.
So, Star Wars groupies, it’s time to head to Tokyo Disneyland and blast off on a great journey. But be forewarned, the exhibit only runs till Sept. 7.
