U.S. Air Force Lt. Gen. Jerry P. Martinez, commander of U.S. Forces Japan and 5th Air Force, Pacific Air Forces, and Admiral Katsutoshi Kawano, Chief of Staff of the Japan Joint Staff, held a press conference at the conclusion of Keen Sword 2017 at Marine Corps Air Station Iwakuni, Japan, Nov. 10, 2016. Held since 1986, Keen Sword is the largest joint, bilateral field training exercise between the U.S. military and Japan Self-Defense Force. The forces conducted air and amphibious training at military installations throughout mainland Japan, Okinawa and in air and sea surrounding Japan, Guam and Tinian.
