Fourth, fifth  and sixth graders at Arnn Elementary School will compete in this year’s National Geographic Bee sponsored by National Geographic magazine.

The preliminary round of testing will take place in classrooms on Dec. 13 at 12:45 p.m., with questions broadcast via the school’s closed circuit television system. The results will be announced on Dec. 14.

The 10 students posting the best scores and two alternates will join a practice session on Jan. 9, 2013, at 12:45 p.m. in the Arnn ES library.

The finals will be held on Jan. 11 at 1 p.m. in the library. This will be broadcast live for other students to see.

Some great resources to hone your geography skills are available in the school and base libraries. On the Internet, there are daily geography quizzes posted on the National Geographic website at  www.nationalgeographic.com/geobee/quiz/today/.

For more information, please contact Ms. Lisa Carson, information specialist at Arnn Elementary School.
