Task Force 70 to hold change of command ceremony

ASAN, Guam (Oct. 2, 2014) – Task Force 70 is scheduled to hold a change of command ceremony on board USS George Washington (CVN 73) on Oct. 5.

During this time-honored Navy tradition, Rear Adm. Mark Montgomery will be relieved as commander of Task Force 70 by Rear Adm. John Alexander.

Task Force 70 is the battle force for U.S. 7th Fleet. Commander, Task Force 70 has operation control of all carrier strike groups and independently deployed cruisers, destroyers and frigates that deploy or transit the 7th Fleet area of operations. The commander also serves as Commander, Carrier Strike Group 5, centered on George Washington, and the embarked Carrier Air Wing 5.
