YOKOTA AIR BASE, Japan -- When moving to a new base, military members always have to fill out paperwork, get adjusted and finish all required items to get assigned to the base. If traveling with pets, the same applies to their four-legged companions.

If owners want to go on a vacation or get assigned to go on a Temporary Duty Assignment, they can rest assured that their animal will have a place to stay with the pet hotel service if they have done all the required paperwork.

"I like to take care of the animals and also like seeing the owners reunite with their pets after long time being apart." said Tomomi Sudo, Yokota Pet Care Center care taker.

The pet center also provides more than temporary home for furry family members. Others services available are grooming and nails trimmed.

"We can receive about three dogs a day for the grooming services." said Nariko Ishigani, Yokota Pet Care Center groomer.

For those looking to buy new pets, the center has adoption for families hoping for a new member.

The center lets families looking to adopt try out a pet first to see if they're a compatible match. Currently the center doesn't have any dogs. There are cats available for foster.

The Pet Care Center, located between Par 3 golf course and the Auto Hobby Shop is the go to place for everyone who is in the process of Permanent Change of Station in or out of Yokota with pets. The center provides a home for pets while owners wait to receive a house on base.

The center is available seven days a week, 8:30a.m.-12 p.m. and 4-7 p.m., but closed on holidays.

Yokota Pet Care Center can be reached at: 315-225-8906
