New CRF Commander visits USARJ
CAMP ZAMA, Japan -- U.S. Army Japan and I Corps (Forward) presented a formal honors ceremony here Aug. 8 for Lt. Gen. Hiromichi Kawamata, new commander of the Japan Ground Self-Defense Force's Central Readiness Force. The general took command of the CRF at the beginnning of the month. His headquarters is collocated at Camp Zama.
Presenting the honors was the commander of U.S. Army Japan and I Corps (Forward), Maj. Gen. James Boozer Sr.
Other newly arrived senior officials from the CRF accompanying Kawamata at his honors ceremony were Maj. Gen. Mitsuhiko Horikiri, vice chief of staff (international), and Warrant Officer Johei Hayatsu, command sergeant major.
Following the honors ceremony held in front of the command headquarters the CRF senior party were introducted to the military and civilian staff before holding private meetings to discuss topics of mutual interest.
