Professional development and networking event seeks to inspire, motivate, and connect careerminded military spouses facing unique career challenges while living abroad.

Yokosuka, Japan – A local professional development and networking event for career-minded military spouses is now planned. The event, planned for the morning of March 14, 2017, will be held in the second floor auditorium of the Community Readiness Center on Commander Fleet Activities Yokosuka.

The event will begin with a panel of spouses sharing experiences and offering advice on navigating career development while OCONUS. A breakout session will follow to give spouses the opportunity to collaborate on career related topics in small groups. The event will conclude with keynote speaker, Cassandra Aucoin, spouse of Commander, 7th Fleet, sharing her personal story and explaining career development resources available to attendees. Light refreshments and a networking opportunity will complete the morning.

The event will support and highlight local CFAY-approved military spouse businesses as well. Photographers are volunteering their services and providing complimentary headshots to attendees. Local military spouse-run businesses have been invited to include promotional materials in a special swag bag.

Lindsey Savage, one of the event organizers says, “A duty station like Japan poses unique challenges for spouses maintaining a career. There are so many of us here, but yet, many of us feel isolated. We hope this event will allow spouses to come together in person to find inspiration, motivation, and education.”

Cassandra Aucoin, who has maintained her career throughout her husband’s 30+ career said, “It is wonderful to see how military spouses adapt and rise to the challenge of maintaining a career, using their talent and available resources to further themselves professionally. I am delighted to share my story and from this event, look forward to the development of more career development and networking opportunities for military spouses in the Yokosuka area.”

Space at the event is limited and complimentary headshots and swag bags will only be available to a limited number of attendees on a first-to-register basis. Adults only. To learn more or register for the event please visit
