Meat Fair back in Iwakuni Nov. 26

Those in the Iwakuni area that love meat are in for a treat.
The Annual Shuto Meat Fair is back for a 27th year Nov. 26 at Syuto Fureai Park.
Those who attend with have the chance to sample quality local brand wagyu beef, “Takamori-gyu” roasted whole!
Besides this high-grade beef, 40 food booths will be offering various other meat dishes, such as rice bowl with fried chicken and pork miso soup.
The annual event hosted by a committee made up of local butchers, grocery shops and restaurants, with support of Iwakuni City, has attracted about 20,000 visitors a year, according to organizers.
On the main stage, a brass band, traditional Japanese dances and drums, and hip-hop dances will entertain visitors, while martial arts demonstrations will also be on display.
The festival will include raffles where visitors can win free local products.
“Some people may have never seen a roasted whole beef,” says a spokesman from Iwakuni City Hall. “So, this should be a good chance to see and sample local brand, Takamori beef, while enjoying the entertainment and mingling with members of the community.”
