JGSDF Command Sergeants Major visit Camp Zama

CAMP ZAMA, Japan -- U.S. Army Japan and I Corps (Forward) Command Sgt. Maj. Steven Payton hosted a visit from the Japan Ground Self-Defense Force's Command Sergeants Major course May 28. The 11 students along with three instructors and two staff members of the three-month course visited Camp Zama from their school at Camp Meguro in Tokyo. In the JGSDF, the command sgt. maj. position is held by warrant officers. All the students are from the brigade level and above. Payton provided the perspective from the top enlisted position in such areas as leadership and the roles and responsibilities of the command sgt. maj. in the U.S. Army.
