Giant Kite Festival 2014

Community members from Zama City and Sagamihara City attended the “Giant Kite Festivals,” held May 4 and 5 at the Sagami River, respectively. Col. Joy Curriera, commander of U.S. Army Garrison Japan, attended the festival with her family. U.S. Army Japan and I Corps (Forward) senior leaders also were represented at the festivals. Members from the “Samurai of Rock”, a rock band unit of USARJ Band performed at the Zama Giant Kite Festival on May 4.

Kites built by Zama Boys’ Scouts and Junior High School students, the Zama Big Kite Preservation Society, the Sagamihara Big Kite Preservation Society and other volunteers were flown during the two day event.
