On 5 December 2014, LT Jacob Meusch, CFAS Staff Judge Advocate, and Junko Yamaguchi, SJA Legal Advisor, provided training to Japanese police at Fukuoka Police Headquarters in Fukuoka. Their presentations focused on three topics: (1) foreign criminal jurisdiction under the US-Japan SOFA, (2) the importance of translation in criminal cases involving SOFA members, and (3) the differences between the Japanese criminal justice system and the military justice system. Police from Miyazaki, Kumamoto, Oita, Saga, and Fukuoka attended the training.
