CAMP ZAMA, Japan -- Several of Camp Zama's community members attended the 2nd annual Camp Zama Block Party, held on Aug. 23 at the Camp Zama Community Club, here.

Randy Benton, business manager and director of the CZCC, said the block party was a two-part event.

Because the end of summer is a high transitioning time period, said Benton, when new community members arrive to the installation, the block party gives those new community members the opportunity to come out and meet other community members.

The second part of the event is to give away free school supplies for the start of the new school year, said Benton.

"We want to give the community a good impression of what Camp Zama... has to offer," said Benton.

Through raffle tickets, community members were able to win prizes such as movies, toys, electronics, and more school supplies. The CZCC provided food and drinks, and helped sponsor games; which, several community members, adults and kids, competed against one another.

Musical entertainment was provided by the U.S. Army Japan Band.
