Base, local firefighters ring in the New Year

MISAWA AIR BASE, Japan -- Firefighters from the 35th Civil Engineer Squadron participated in the annual Misawa Fire Department New Year ceremony in Misawa City, Japan, Jan. 19, 2014.

The ceremony honored the firefighters and the many volunteers in the Misawa community who actively work to support the efforts of firefighting.

"The relationship between the fire departments in our communities is vital for mission accomplishment," said Col. Stephen Williams, 35th Fighter Wing commander.
