And1 Streetball Live Tour Coming to Yokota on May 17
The 374th Force Support Squadron is proud to welcome the And1 Streetball Live Tour to Yokota Air Base this Saturday.
The basketball showmen are headed to the Kanto Plains as part of a tour made possible by Armed Forces Entertainment. The And1 Team is scheduled to play an exhibition game against a Yokota AB select team at 6:30 p.m. at the Samurai Fitness Center.
And1 aficionados will recognize names like “50”, “Silk” and “I’ll Be Right Back” on hand ready to showcase amazing dunks, passes and ball-handling displays.
“(People are) going to see a lot of energy, dunks, great ball handling, good passing and overall just guys playing basketball in its truest form,” Andre Poole, better known as “Silk”, recently told Armed Forces Entertainment.
“We’re all about having fun but at the same time we like to compete.”
The event is free and open to all Department of Defense ID card holders, however, seating is very limited so make sure to arrive early.
Silk told AFE that he is excited to be able to perform for the troops overseas.
“I have a lot of friends and family member that were in the Navy and the Marines and both of my grandparents were in the Armed Services as well,” Poole told AFE.
“My family connections to the military run deep, so it means a lot to me to be able to put on a show and entertain our troops as a thank you for everything they do for us, and I’m looking forward to the opportunity.”
